Key Capabilities

Autonomous API mapping crews

Assign a researcher agent to map your entire backend by executing `list_workspaces`. Stop manually documenting endpoints. The agent finds where the team is currently building. The researcher passes workspace IDs to an analyst agent. That second agent runs `list_collections` and `get_collection_details` to extract the exact request schemas. They share this context in memory, building a complete architectural map through the MCP server without human intervention.

Postman MCP Server health teams

Watch for failing test suites across your infrastructure by having a monitor agent run `list_monitors` on a loop. Set up a dedicated crew just for API reliability. They catch issues early. When a suite fails, it triggers a diagnostic agent. This agent pulls the active configuration using `get_environment_details` and compares it against known good states. The crew identifies the broken variable and drafts a fix before you even open your laptop.

Coordinate mock server audits

Pull everything running via `list_mocks` with a cleanup agent to cross-reference it with active development. Large teams lose track of which mock servers are actually in use. This automates the audit process. It then checks `list_apis` to see if those mocks belong to deprecated endpoints. The crew outputs a simple markdown report of what you should delete. You save resources and clean up your Postman instance automatically.

Setup guide

Set up Postman MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Postman tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Postman Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Postman data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Postman access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Postman transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about Postman MCP in CrewAI

Pass the server URL directly into your agent's `mcps` array. CrewAI handles the tool discovery and registration automatically.
Yes. Use `MCPServerHTTP` from `crewai.mcp` and apply a `tool_filter`. You can restrict an agent to only use `list_monitors` and hide the rest.
Agents in the same crew share memory. If one agent pulls staging variables via `get_environment_details`, the next agent can use those keys to run diagnostics.
The framework manages the context window for you. If `get_collection_details` returns massive JSON, the agent summarizes the endpoints before passing them to the next role.
Your API definitions and environment variables stay within your local execution environment. The MCP server reads `get_workspace_details` payloads securely without broadcasting them to public LLM training sets.
