Key Capabilities

Generate tests in Cursor from live code

The `create_test` tool allows your Cursor agent to write test cases in your codebase and register them in your PractiTest project simultaneously. You write the code in Cursor, and the editor handles the PractiTest documentation. By calling `list_tests` first, the Cursor agent checks for duplicates in your current PractiTest test suite. This ensures you do not waste time creating PractiTest test cases that already exist in your Cursor workspace.

Log test runs directly from the Cursor terminal

The `create_run` tool records your execution results directly from the Cursor terminal into your PractiTest dashboard. Your Cursor agent catches terminal errors and logs the PractiTest failure status automatically. Running `list_runs` in Cursor lets you verify that the execution logged successfully to PractiTest. This loop keeps your focus entirely on fixing the broken code in your Cursor editor rather than checking PractiTest.

Sync Cursor context with this MCP Server

The `get_requirement` tool pulls live requirements from your PractiTest project directly into your Cursor chat sidebar. You can write code in Cursor that perfectly matches the PractiTest specifications. Calling `list_requirements` gives the Cursor agent a bird's-eye view of what still needs to be built in PractiTest. It then suggests Cursor code changes to cover those missing PractiTest gaps.

Setup guide

Set up PractiTest MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the PractiTest MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent PractiTest transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the PractiTest tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about PractiTest MCP in Cursor

Add the server configuration to your `.cursor/mcp.json` file in your Cursor project root. Once saved, the editor will load the PractiTest tools for your agent to use.
Yes, when you run tests in the Cursor terminal, the agent can use `create_run` to upload the results to PractiTest. It parses the terminal output and sets the status to passed or failed.
Yes, you can commit a `.cursor/mcp.json` file to your repository to share the PractiTest tool configurations with your team in Cursor. This ensures everyone uses the same project settings.
Your Cursor agent runs `list_instances` to search your active PractiTest project for the correct test configuration. You can then target those instances for your updates directly in the editor.
Your PractiTest project requirements and run statuses are sent directly between Cursor and the API endpoint. Your API keys are stored locally in your Cursor configuration file and are never sent to external servers.
