Create fault-tolerant document pipelines

This MCP server lets your Mastra AI agent manage document extraction from start to finish. You start a job with `upload_document_from_url`. If the initial request fails, Mastra's built-in exponential backoff handles the retry automatically. You can build workflows that check the job's progress. Use a loop with `get_document_status` to wait for completion. If it fails, your workflow can branch to a different step, like notifying an admin or trying a different extractor.

Chain together complex extraction logic

Go beyond simple parsing. First, have your agent call `list_extractors` to find the right AI model for a specific document type. Then, pass that extractor's ID to `upload_document_from_url` to ensure the correct processing. After a successful parse, use `get_document_data` to get the structured output. Your Mastra workflow can then use that data to make decisions—for example, if an invoice total is over a certain amount, create a record in another system.

Automate document organization for Mastra AI

Your agent can act like an automated file clerk. Use `list_folders` to find the right destination, then move processed documents. It’s all done through simple tool calls within your workflow. You can also build reporting jobs. Schedule a Mastra agent to run daily, call `list_extractor_data` to get all results from the past 24 hours, and then format that data for a summary report. Check your API quota with `get_api_usage` to make sure you stay within limits.

Setup guide

Set up AlgoDocs MCP in Mastra AI

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+ and a TypeScript project
  • @mastra/mcp + @mastra/core packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run npm install @mastra/mcp @mastra/core plus your preferred model provider (e.g. @ai-sdk/openai).

  2. 2

    Configure the MCPClient

    Create an MCPClient with your Vinkius endpoint as a URL object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Discover and inject tools

    Call mcpClient.listTools() and spread the result into your agent's tools object. All AlgoDocs tools become native Mastra tools.

  4. 4

    Run with any model

    Swap openai("gpt-4o") for any AI SDK-compatible provider. Call agent.generate() and the agent routes tool calls through MCP automatically.

agent.ts
import { MCPClient } from "@mastra/mcp";
import { Agent } from "@mastra/core/agent";
import { openai } from "@ai-sdk/openai";

const mcpClient = new MCPClient({
  id: "algodocs-mcp-client",
  servers: {
    "algodocs-mcp": {
      url: new URL(
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
      ),
    },
  },
});

const agent = new Agent({
  name: "AlgoDocs Agent",
  model: openai("gpt-4o"),
  instructions: "You have access to AlgoDocs tools.",
  tools: {
    ...(await mcpClient.listTools()),
  },
});

const result = await agent.generate(
  "List recent AlgoDocs transactions"
);
console.log(result.text);

Common questions about AlgoDocs MCP in Mastra AI

Mastra AI has automatic retries built in. If the `upload_document_from_url` call fails, it will try again. For total failure, you can define a conditional branch in your workflow to log the error or notify a human.
Yes. Your agent should first call `list_extractors` to get a list of available AI models. Based on the document type or other logic, it can then select the appropriate extractor and use it in the `upload_document_from_url` call.
Create a loop in your Mastra AI workflow that calls `get_document_status`. The loop continues until the status is 'completed' or 'failed'. This prevents your agent from moving on before the data is ready.
Yes, the `list_extractor_data` tool is designed for this. You can use it in a scheduled Mastra agent to pull all new data from a specific extractor at once, which is great for batch processing.
The MCP server only ever sees the document content from the URLs you provide. All communication is over HTTPS using a short-lived token provided by Vinkius. The server environment is ephemeral, meaning no data persists between your agent's sessions.
