Applitools MCP Server for CrewAI teams

One agent cannot monitor every visual test across your entire organization. You need a dedicated crew. Assign a monitor agent to run `list_batches` every hour to watch for unresolved UI changes. When the monitor spots a failure, it passes the batch ID to an analyst agent. That second agent calls `get_batch_stats` to figure out exactly how many endpoints broke before escalating the issue.

Inspect sessions without human input

Finding a failed batch is only half the job. Your MCP client needs to know exactly what shifted on the screen. The analyst agent takes the failed batch and runs `list_results` to grab all the test outputs. From there, it digs into individual tests using `get_session`. The agent reads the exact session details and writes a plain-English bug report for your frontend developers.

Manage baselines hierarchically

UI designs change, meaning old visual references need pruning. You can assign a moderator agent the specific job of auditing these references using `list_baselines`. Give this agent exclusive access to `delete_baseline` via CrewAI's tool_filter. It can automatically clear out deprecated visual states while your other agents remain safely restricted to read-only tools.

Setup guide

Set up Applitools MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Applitools tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Applitools Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Applitools data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Applitools access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Applitools transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about Applitools MCP in CrewAI

Pass your Vinkius MCP endpoint URL directly into the mcps array on your agent definition. The framework automatically fetches and loads all available tools.
Yes. Use MCPServerHTTP and apply a tool_filter. You can give your analyst agent read-only tools like get_batch while reserving delete_batch for an admin agent.
A dedicated monitor agent polls list_batches on a schedule. It shares memory with the rest of the crew, passing failed batch IDs to other agents for deeper investigation.
Set up a setup agent to run validate_key before the main crew starts working. This stops the entire pipeline from failing halfway through a massive test suite.
Your session IDs and test statistics never leave the V8 Isolate Sandbox. The MCP Server handles all Applitools data in an ephemeral environment that shuts down immediately after execution.
