Write missing tests with Cline and the Codecov MCP Server
Cline doesn't just point out untested lines; it writes the actual test files. The agent runs `get_coverage_report_tree` to locate untested blocks, writes the test cases in VS Code, and runs your test runner to verify the fix. After running the local tests, Cline calls `get_commit_coverage_totals` to verify that the coverage percentage increased. It automates the entire loop of finding gaps, writing code, and verifying metrics without human intervention.
Track repository coverage trends during active development
As you write code, Cline queries `get_repository_coverage_details` to keep an eye on your overall repository health. It flags any sudden drops in coverage before you stage your changes. The agent uses `list_repository_commits` to compare your current working branch against the main branch. This lets you see the immediate coverage impact of your local modifications before pushing to production.
Filter coverage metrics by custom flags
If your project uses multiple test environments, Cline calls `list_coverage_flags` to inspect specific test suites. It isolates unit test coverage from system integration tests to pinpoint exactly where coverage is lacking. By calling `list_repository_branches`, Cline determines which branches require stricter coverage checks. It helps you maintain high standards across all active feature branches in your repo.
