Specialized incident crews for CrewAI

Assign specific roles to your agents, such as a monitor agent that runs `list_incidents` and a responder agent that runs `update_incident`. This keeps your response logic modular. Each agent focuses on one part of the lifecycle. They share context to ensure the crew acts in sync.

Change event monitoring in CrewAI

Task your research agent with scanning system changes. It can call `list_change_events` to see if a recent deployment might have caused the current outage. It gives your crew a starting point for their investigation. They identify the root cause faster.

Runbook execution in CrewAI

Let your autonomous crew follow existing procedures. They check `list_runbooks` to identify the correct steps and execute them against the incident. You ensure consistency across every response. Your agents never skip a required manual step.

Setup guide

Set up FireHydrant MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke FireHydrant tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="FireHydrant Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze FireHydrant data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct FireHydrant access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent FireHydrant transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about FireHydrant MCP in CrewAI

You use the `tool_filter` option in your agent setup. This allows you to give a research agent access to `list_services` while restricting `update_incident` to your lead agent.
Yes. Agents share memory within the crew. One agent can find an incident ID via `list_incidents`, and another can add a note using that ID.
You can connect via stdio or SSE. The CrewAI setup allows you to point your agent directly at the server URL for simple local testing.
You can use a hierarchical structure where a moderator agent manages the flow of alerts. This prevents your crew from being overwhelmed by too many incidents at once.
They are managed by the Vinkius platform. Your agents use a single endpoint token to perform actions, keeping your actual API keys off your local machine.
