Multi-agent Fivetran sync analysis

Assign one AutoGen agent to track `list_connectors` and another to evaluate `get_connector` output. They debate whether a sync failure requires an immediate restart. This prevents knee-jerk reactions to transient errors. Your agents converge on a decision only after checking all relevant metadata.

Security and ops debate

Have your security agent call `list_users` while your ops agent checks `list_teams`. They negotiate to ensure only approved users have access to specific groups. It forces a consensus on access management. Any discrepancy triggers a flag for your review.

Automated destination verification

Use an agent to call `list_groups` and another to verify `get_destination` settings. They compare the output against your expected architecture. If they find a mismatch, they report it back to you. It's a built-in check that catches configuration drift automatically.

Setup guide

Set up Fivetran MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Fivetran tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Fivetran_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Fivetran data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Fivetran MCP in AutoGen

You pass the Fivetran MCP tools to your agents. They decide which tool to call during their conversation, allowing them to gather data and debate the findings.
Yes. You can set up a 'monitoring' agent and a 'resolution' agent. They use `get_connector` to verify the state and discuss the best way to handle sync errors.
It does. Agents can call `list_groups` to get the full scope of your Fivetran setup, then deliberate on the configuration of each group.
The server uses a single, scoped token to manage interactions. Your agents only get access to the tools you explicitly permit.
Your data is safe because the server only reads pipeline metadata. It never accesses, stores, or transmits the actual records being synced by your connectors.
