LangChain MCP Server Integration

The `estimate_gender` tool connects LangChain agents directly to the Genderize.io database to evaluate first names. Your agent reads an incoming user profile, calls this endpoint, and receives a probability score and assigned gender. This setup feeds directly into your ReAct loops. The agent reviews the returned probability metric and decides the next step in your sequence. You'll track the exact latency and token cost of every API hit through LangSmith.

Region-Specific Name Routing

The `estimate_gender_uk` and `estimate_gender_us` tools let your agent filter names based on geographic context. A name like "Jamie" yields entirely different statistical probabilities depending on the country code you pass. Your chain logic dictates which regional endpoint to hit. If the user profile contains a location tag, the agent dynamically selects the matching localized tool, improving the accuracy of the final dataset before passing it down the pipeline.

Bulk Processing Pipelines

The `estimate_genders_bulk` tool pushes arrays of names through LangChain in a single execution step. Instead of running a loop of individual calls, your agent aggregates a batch of new signups and processes them at once. That drastically reduces API overhead. You verify the connection health first using `verify_api_connection`, then execute the batch request. The returned array maps perfectly to your subsequent database update nodes.

Setup guide

Set up Genderize MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes Genderize tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "genderize-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent Genderize transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about Genderize MCP in LangChain

Install the `langchain-mcp-adapters` package. Initialize `MultiServerMCPClient` with the Genderize HTTP endpoint, call `client.get_tools()`, and pass the list into your ReAct agent.
Yes. The agent uses the `estimate_genders_bulk` tool to send an array of names. This requires fewer steps in your chain than looping through single names.
LangSmith traces every tool execution. You see the exact input arguments sent to the server and the response time for the external API call.
You only need persistent memory if your chain references past name evaluations. Otherwise, the tools run perfectly in a stateless agent setup.
The server transmits the first name string over an encrypted connection to the external API. The architecture isolates the request, ensuring the name data is only exposed during the active HTTP transaction and never stored locally.
