Multi-agent Gitea decision making

Let your agents negotiate over repository tasks. One agent calls `list_pulls` to check status, while another verifies branch requirements using `list_branches`. They discuss the findings before taking action. This ensures that every move on your Gitea instance is debated and validated by your internal agent team.

Consensus-driven Gitea management

Avoid accidental changes by requiring agent agreement. When an agent suggests an update, it must use `get_repo` to confirm the target environment is correct. Other agents review the context provided by `get_org`. They only proceed once the team reaches a consensus on the task at hand.

Automated Gitea task negotiation

Assign specialized roles to your agents. A security-focused agent can use `list_issues` to flag risks, while a developer agent handles the Gitea branch cleanup. They challenge each other's reasoning. This setup forces your agents to consider multiple perspectives before they ever touch your Gitea server.

Setup guide

Set up Gitea MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Gitea tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Gitea_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Gitea data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Gitea MCP in AutoGen

Pass the MCP tool adapter to your AssistantAgent constructor. The agents then automatically gain the ability to debate using Gitea operations.
They absolutely should. That is the point of the framework, as different agents can prioritize security or speed when interacting with your Gitea data.
The MCP adapter converts Gitea tool schemas automatically. Your agents see them as native functions they can call during their conversation.
It provides a single endpoint token. You plug this into the Vinkius client, and your agents share the authorized connection securely.
They handle sensitive repository configurations, branch names, and pull request details. Each tool call is logged to ensure you track exactly what the agents are discussing.
