How to Use the Grafana MCP in Cursor
Inject live Grafana metrics into your coding workflow with Cursor agent mode.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Grafana MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Grafana to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Context-aware debugging in Cursor
Run `firing_alerts` to let the agent see exactly what is failing in production. It uses this live data to suggest code fixes that address the root cause of your alerts. Having the alert details directly in the editor prevents the agent from making assumptions about system state. It works with the same information your SRE team sees.
Verify queries using Cursor tools
Use `search_dashboards` to find the relevant panels for the feature you are currently building. Call `get_dashboard` to pull the exact query strings used in those panels. This ensures your code changes align with the metrics your team monitors. You avoid writing stubs when you can reference the production query definitions directly.
Map your infrastructure in Cursor
Call `list_datasources` to confirm which databases are linked to your monitoring environment. This helps the agent understand the scope of your observability reach. Your agent uses this list to verify that it is querying the right source during diagnostic tasks. It eliminates guesswork about your backend connections.
