Collaborative ticket triage in AutoGen

`list_tickets` feeds new support requests into an AutoGen multi-agent group chat connected to the MCP Server. A triage agent uses `get_ticket` to analyze the issue, while a routing agent determines the best owner. The agents debate the priority level based on the customer history. Once they reach a consensus, the routing agent uses `update_ticket_state` to assign the ticket and change its status.

Multi-agent reply drafting and review

`create_message` is executed only after a strict review process between your AutoGen agents. A writer agent drafts a response using context from `list_messages`. A separate quality assurance agent reviews the draft to ensure it matches your support guidelines. Once both agents agree on the text, the writer agent calls `create_message` to post the final response.

Automated agent assignment and lookup

`list_agents` allows your AutoGen coordinator agent to see who is currently active on your team. It uses `get_agent` to check specific agent details and workloads. When a complex ticket arrives, the coordinator matches it against agent specialties. The group chat determines the best fit and instantly updates the ticket metadata to ensure fast resolution.

Setup guide

Set up Groove MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Groove tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Groove_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Groove data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Groove MCP in AutoGen

You use the autogen-ext package to load the tools from the MCP Server. Pass the resulting tool list directly to your AssistantAgent constructor, and the McpToolAdapter will handle the schema conversion.
Yes, that is the core strength of the framework. Agents can discuss a ticket retrieved via `get_ticket` over multiple turns before the executor agent finally calls `update_ticket_state`.
You should configure your coordinator agent to manage the polling interval of tools like `list_tickets`. This prevents your multi-agent conversation from hitting API rate limits during high-volume support spikes.
Yes, you can configure a UserProxyAgent in your AutoGen group chat. If the agents cannot agree on a draft for `create_message`, the system pauses and prompts a human operator for approval.
Your agent emails, customer profiles, and message logs are processed in memory and never stored. Vinkius runs this toolset inside an isolated, read-only runtime environment on our MCP host.
