Automate provisioning with AutoGen

The `create_enrollment_invitation` tool lets your multi-agent system issue mobile credentials. A request agent proposes a new user, while a security agent verifies the details. They debate the necessity of the access before anything gets provisioned. Once they reach consensus, the system calls `list_identity_users` to grab the specific ID and part number. The agents execute the invitation and verify the output together. You build a workflow where no single agent grants access unchecked.

Investigate access anomalies

Running `get_audit_log_events` pulls the recent history of door reads into the conversation. An auditor agent scans the JSON for failed attempts. If it finds a suspicious pattern, it flags the event for the rest of the group. An investigator agent then runs `get_user_details` on the flagged ID. The agents discuss whether the failed read was a glitch or an intrusion attempt. The MCP Server provides the raw data, and your agents figure out what it means.

Audit identity groups continuously

Use `list_identity_groups` to pull your access control policies into the chat. A compliance agent compares these groups against your internal security standards. It highlights any group that seems over-permissioned. Another agent runs `list_physical_credentials` to see exactly how many fobs are tied to that group. They negotiate a recommendation for restricting access and present you with the final plan. You get a fully deliberated security audit on demand via the MCP protocol.

Setup guide

Set up HID Origo MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes HID Origo tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="HID Origo_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent HID Origo data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about HID Origo MCP in AutoGen

Install `autogen-ext[mcp]` and use `mcp_server_tools`. Pass the resulting list into your `AssistantAgent` constructor.
No. This specific integration only lists and invites users. It does not include a deletion tool.
One agent calls the tool and posts the JSON response into the shared context. The other agents read that message and respond.
Yes. You list physical access credentials and fobs managed in the system. It tracks both mobile and physical states.
The server accesses administrative events, physical credential lists, and identity groups. Because the MCP Server runs in an ephemeral V8 sandbox, your active memory clears as soon as the agent conversation ends.
