Process massive Inoreader feeds with Google ADK

The `list_stream_contents` tool pulls hundreds of full-text Inoreader articles into your Google ADK context window in a single call. This lets Gemini analyze months of Inoreader news alongside your BigQuery warehouse data. Because Gemini handles 1M+ tokens, you don't need to chunk the Inoreader feed data inside your Google ADK pipelines. The Google ADK agent reads the entire Inoreader stream, identifies market trends, and writes summaries back to your Cloud Storage.

Enterprise Inoreader tag sorting via MCP Server

The `edit_tag` tool lets your Google ADK agent mark high-priority Inoreader articles with specific labels like 'com.google/starred' to flag them for human review. This bridges the gap between automated Google ADK analysis and your team's daily Inoreader dashboard. To map your existing corporate Inoreader folder structure before applying updates, the Google ADK agent uses `list_tags`. This prevents the MCP Server from creating duplicate or messy organizational tags in your Inoreader account during Google ADK runs.

Direct Inoreader subscription provisioning in Google ADK

The `quick_add_subscription` tool allows your Google ADK agent to insert new Inoreader RSS feeds into your monitoring queue when it discovers new sources in BigQuery. This automates your Google ADK intelligence gathering pipeline using Inoreader feeds. Once added, the Google ADK agent uses `get_unread_counts` to prioritize which new Inoreader feeds to read first. Ingestion pipelines inside Google ADK remain focused on high-volume, active Inoreader feeds as a result.

Setup guide

Set up Inoreader MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Inoreader tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Inoreader_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Inoreader tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Inoreader MCP in Google ADK

You initialize `McpToolset` with your Vinkius MCP Server endpoint URL and pass it to your google-adk `LlmAgent`. The google-adk agent immediately gains access to Inoreader tools like `list_subscriptions` without extra code.
Yes, your google-adk agent uses `get_unread_counts` to check for new Inoreader content before running heavy Gemini reasoning models. This keeps your google-adk run costs low by avoiding empty API calls.
Yes, the google-adk agent calls `mark_all_as_read` to clear Inoreader streams after exporting the articles to BigQuery. This ensures your google-adk pipeline never processes the same Inoreader article twice.
The google-adk agent executes `delete_tag` to strip the label from your Inoreader articles. The underlying Inoreader RSS feed items remain in your account, but they are removed from that specific folder view.
Your Inoreader RSS subscription lists and unread counts are routed directly through an ephemeral, zero-trust MCP sandbox. No Inoreader feed data is stored on Vinkius disks, ensuring your google-adk corporate intelligence gathering remains confidential.
