Agents debate Karbon workflow changes

This server connects `list_work_items` and `update_work_item` to your AutoGen conversation framework. A project manager agent can propose a workflow change, while a compliance agent reviews the rules before actually executing the update. When they reach an agreement, the system fires `create_work_item` to generate the new project. You get a complete log of the deliberation process alongside the actual API execution.

Automate client onboarding via MCP Server

Use `create_contact` to let agents handle new client setups. One agent pulls lead data from an email, another runs `list_contacts` to check for duplicates, and a third finalizes the entry. If a discrepancy arises, the agents query `get_contact` to compare records. They negotiate the correct data structure before committing any changes to your CRM.

Audit tasks with competing agents

Feed `list_work_tasks` and `list_users` into a performance review conversation. An auditor agent flags overdue items, while an operations agent defends the timeline based on context pulled from `list_contact_notes`. This setup prevents blind automation. The tools provide the raw facts, and the multi-agent framework ensures every status update is heavily scrutinized before it hits your dashboard.

Setup guide

Set up Karbon MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Karbon tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Karbon_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Karbon data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Karbon MCP in AutoGen

Install `autogen-ext[mcp]`. Use `mcp_server_tools` with your Streamable HTTP URL, and pass the resulting list directly into your `AssistantAgent` constructor.
They can. One agent might run `get_work_item` to read the current state, while another drafts an email to the client. They share the context automatically.
Yes. The `McpToolAdapter` automatically translates the required inputs for tools like `update_work_item` into formats the agents understand natively.
Instruct your agents to always run `list_contacts` before executing a write. The debate framework ensures they verify existing records first.
Completely. The server uses token-based authentication and ephemeral execution. Employee lists and client notes are processed during the agent conversation and never stored by the transport layer.
