…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect MusicBrainz MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect MusicBrainz to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Code with live music data
The `search_works` tool finds composition metadata and ISWCs while you write your application logic. Cursor Agent calls the API mid-keystroke and injects real song data into your test fixtures. You don't have to invent mock data anymore. When building a music player UI, Cursor runs `search_labels` and populates your frontend components with actual record label names and founding dates.
Fetch exact entity IDs
The `get_artist` tool pulls the exact life span, country, and disambiguation tags for any musician. Your AI client grabs this structured JSON and maps it directly to your TypeScript interfaces. Getting specific track details is just as fast. Cursor uses `get_recording` to grab durations and releases it appears on. The MCP Server ensures your code references real database entries.
Build discography features in Cursor
The `browse_releases_by_artist` tool pages through an artist's entire catalog, returning up to 100 results per request. Cursor uses this to write pagination logic that actually works against the real API. You can also map geographic data. The `search_areas` tool returns ISO codes for countries and cities. Cursor takes those codes and writes the exact routing logic your music discovery app needs.
