Spin Up Test Environments Instantly

Your agent can now create isolated database branches for you. Just ask it to `create_branch` from your production data. It happens instantly, with no data copying, so you get a perfect, full-sized clone for testing a new feature or running a migration. Once the branch is ready, have Claude `get_connection_uri` and pass it right back to you. You can plug that URI straight into your app or a tool like `psql`. No more digging through a web console for credentials.

Manage Projects and Databases

Start from scratch by telling your agent to `create_project`. It provisions a new serverless Postgres instance with a default branch and endpoint. From there, you can `create_database` or `create_role` just by asking. Need to see what's running? Use `list_projects` to get an overview, then drill down with `list_branches`, `list_databases`, and `list_endpoints`. Your AI client can give you a full inventory of your Neon infrastructure without you ever leaving the chat.

Control Your Neon MCP Server

This isn't just for creating things. You can manage the entire lifecycle. Promote a feature branch to be the new default with `set_primary_branch` before a release. When you're done, clean up. Tell your agent to `delete_branch` to tear down a test environment. You can even `delete_project` when it's no longer needed. It's full control, all through conversation.

Common questions about Neon MCP in Claude Desktop

Install this Neon MCP Server from the Extensions menu in Claude Desktop's settings. Once installed, tools like `create_branch` will be available to your agent. Just start a new chat and ask it to list your Neon projects.
Yes. You can say, "Using Neon, create a new branch from primary for ticket 'PROJ-123'." Your agent will use the `create_branch` tool and can even name the branch for you. It will then return the new branch details.
After you `create_branch`, just ask, "Now get the connection URI for that new branch." The agent will use `get_connection_uri` and provide the full string, including the password, ready for you to copy.
Absolutely. Ask your agent to `list_endpoints` for a specific project and branch. It will return a list showing their type (read-write or read-only), host address, and current state.
The server only accesses Neon project and database metadata. This includes project names, branch IDs, role names, and connection URIs. It never touches the actual data stored inside your PostgreSQL tables. Your Vinkius token is encrypted and used only for authenticating with the Neon API.
