Plan Milestones via Windsurf MCP Server

Set major checkpoints on the timeline automatically. Cascade can first run `list_workspace_projects` to see available workstreams, then invoke `create_milestone` to drop a diamond marker for that phase. It's perfect for multi-stage rollouts.

Manage Task Segments with Windsurf MCP Server

Windsurf can build out project phases step by step. You tell it the goal, and Cascade handles creating tasks using `create_timeline_task`, requiring only a name, start date, and end date (YYYY-MM-DD). Don't worry about remembering the dates—just give the scope.

Check Team Scope with Windsurf MCP Server

Need to know who owns what? Your agent can list all relevant team members using `list_workspace_members`. It also pulls every project and tag available via `list_workspace_projects` or `list_workspace_tags`. This helps you scope out resource dependencies before building the plan.

Setup guide

Set up Toggl Plan MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Toggl Plan MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Toggl Plan payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Toggl Plan tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Toggl Plan MCP in Windsurf

Windsurf uses its Cascade feature to treat Toggl Plan as a set of actionable endpoints. You give it a high-level goal—like 'Plan Q3 deployment'—and the agent figures out which sequence of tools, like `list_workspace_projects` followed by `create_milestone`, needs to run.
Yeah, you can. The server offers a `delete_timeline_task` tool, but remember this action is irreversible. Always confirm the target task ID before letting your agent execute that command.
The primary data types it handles are project names, team member lists (`list_workspace_members`), and timeline tasks. Since this is an MCP Server connection, your AI client only sees the specific data required for the task at hand.
Windsurf isn't built for pure terminal work like a DevOps pipeline. It shines when you need to orchestrate planning steps across multiple tools within an IDE environment, not just running single commands in a shell.
You can call `get_timeline_view` anytime. Just provide the 'since' and 'until' dates (YYYY-MM-DD), and your agent will pull the visual data for that specific window.
