Both methods give you the precise coordinates needed for mapping logic.

Use `get_traffic_incidents` by passing a min/max bounding box, which tells you if there are any active issues in that area. To monitor specific stretches of road, call `get_traffic_flow_segment`. Set up TomTom MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token

    Open MCP Settings

    Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

    Add the TomTom MCP

    Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

    Enable Agent mode

    Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

    Verify the connection

    Ask Cursor something like "List my recent TomTom transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the TomTom tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Use `search_poi_by_category`. You provide the category name—say, 'hospital'—and a central coordinate. The tool returns POI data that you can then process and integrate into your code logic.
