Code with Live Quotes via `get_quotes`

The `get_quotes` tool pulls inspirational quotes from the fit database and lets you inject them directly into your running code. Instead of using placeholder text, the AI generates working code that contains real API responses. This is a massive time saver when you're writing examples or documentation strings for a project.

Contextual Content Generation

When your agent calls `get_quotes`, it returns the quote data, and Cursor uses that live context to complete functions. You can write code that dynamically pulls a motivational quote based on user input. This moves you beyond mock data entirely; your final commit will actually contain usable content.

Using MCP Server for Testing

You configure the Type.fit MCP Server in the project root, making sure the agent can access it when in Agent mode. This allows you to test how quote retrieval impacts your code's logic. It ensures that the live data flow—the quotes—is baked into your application structure from day one.

Setup guide

Set up Type.fit MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)

Common questions about Type.fit MCP in Cursor

In Agent mode, prompt the AI client to 'Call `get_quotes`.' The agent will execute the tool call, retrieve the quote data, and inject that live text directly into the code snippet you're working on.
Absolutely. You can generate a list of quotes and then ask the AI to format them as JSDoc comments or README sections, making your project documentation much richer right in your editor.
This MCP Server touches Quote data. You configure the `get_quotes` tool call in your `.cursor/mcp.json` file, allowing the AI agent to access the quote database whenever you need it while coding.
You create a configuration file at `.cursor/mcp.json`. You add the server under `mcpServers` key, and then you'll enable Agent mode in your chat to start using the tools.
Yes. The tool returns all available inspirational quotes via `get_quotes`. You can write code that iterates over this list, pulling several unique quotes to populate an array or a structured data object.
