Automated Compute and Networking Management

You can assign roles to agents for cloud setup. One agent calls `create_server` while another calls `update_network`. A third specialized agent then executes `list_firewall_rules` to validate the security posture. The crew works together: if an initial network creation fails, a second agent can use `get_account` credentials and attempt to fix it by calling `create_router`.

Self-Healing Storage and Backup Routines

Design a storage monitoring crew. Agent A runs periodic checks using `list_storages`, and if data is missing, Agent B automatically calls `backup_storage`. If the backup fails, a third agent triggers a recovery attempt via `restore_storage`. This multi-agent process ensures that critical assets are always protected without manual intervention.

Credential and Access Control Automation

Build an autonomous security crew. One agent uses `list_api_tokens` to audit existing credentials, while a specialized moderator agent executes `create_api_token` when a new service needs access. This team can also manage infrastructure roles by listing available hosts with `list_hosts`, ensuring no gaps in coverage.

Setup guide

Set up UpCloud MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke UpCloud tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="UpCloud Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze UpCloud data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct UpCloud access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent UpCloud transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about UpCloud MCP in CrewAI

CrewAI runs specialized agents that collaborate. You can assign one agent to research server details (`get_server`) and another to act by executing `stop_server` based on the findings.
Yes. The role-based specialization means you can build pipelines where one agent creates a Kubernetes cluster (`create_kubernetes_cluster`) and another agent validates its status by calling `get_kubernetes_kubeconfig`.
The crew can access financial data. A dedicated reporting agent calls `get_billing_summary`, allowing the system to automatically generate reports based on cost metrics.
Yes. You'll use a team of agents: one to list available networks (`list_networks`), another to create specific ones, and a third to manage the associated firewalls via `create_firewall_rule`.
The server manages financial records. The crew can retrieve the monthly billing summary using `get_billing_summary`, providing critical cost visibility for autonomous auditing.
