Inspect Player Containers with MCP Server

Use `get_player_details` to pull all the technical metadata for a player ID. When you commit this config, every developer on your team gets the same structured data access. You can run `list_video_players` to give everyone a comprehensive view of all configured facets in the repository's context.

Handle Vidyard Assets Across Teams

The `get_video_details` tool lets your whole team retrieve asset metadata. Need stream links? Call `get_video_source_files` to get direct URLs, perfect for embedding across multiple components. If you need a full inventory, use `list_videos` to generate the list of all assets that belong in the repo.

Update and Create Players with Copilot

Need a new player? The agent can execute `create_empty_player`, generating an ID everyone uses immediately. You can also use `update_player_name` to standardize the display title across all team projects. Remember, calling `delete_video_player` is permanent, so double-check that requirement before committing.

Setup guide

Set up Vidyard MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Vidyard MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Vidyard tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Vidyard transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
