List and Discover Video Assets via the MCP Server

Need to know what you’ve got? Use the MCP Server to get a full inventory of your assets. The `list_videos` tool pulls every video asset stored in Vidyard, while `list_video_players` shows all configured facades (or player containers) in the account.

Build and Configure Video Players

Setting up a new player or modifying an existing one is simple. You can create a container using `create_empty_player`, then use `update_player_name` to give it a clear label for your team. If you need to link content, `attach_video_to_player` handles binding a specific video ID to that player.

Retrieve Video Technical Data

When the agent runs into technical specs or stream links, it has options. Call `get_video_details` for general technical metadata on an asset. For deployment scripts, you can use `get_video_source_files` to pull direct stream URLs for multiple qualities like 480p and 720p.

Setup guide

Set up Vidyard MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Vidyard MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Vidyard payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Vidyard tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Vidyard MCP in Windsurf

Windsurf can run `list_videos` to give you a complete manifest of every video asset stored in your account. This gives you the IDs you need for other operations.
Yes. You can use `delete_video_player` to remove a container, and if necessary, run `delete_video_asset`. Just remember that deleting assets is irreversible.
The agent executes `get_player_details` to pull the current configuration and metadata for a specific video player. This confirms if it’s ready to host new content.
Absolutely. Cascade automatically reads context; you set the goal—like 'list all players and get their URLs'—and it handles calling `list_video_players` and then `get_video_source_files` in sequence.
You permanently remove the video asset itself. The primary data type you're deleting is the core video file and its associated metadata from the server.
