Scripting Scheduled Weather Reports

Set up cron jobs that check for future conditions. You can pipe the output of `get_forecast_daily` or `get_forecast_hourly` into a reporting script. For example, checking wind and precipitation probability 16 days out. This lets you run complex reports without needing any GUI interaction.

Automated Environmental Compliance Checks

Use the air quality data to gate your pipeline. If `get_air_quality` returns an AQI score above a threshold, your script exits with a non-zero code. This is crucial for compliance reporting. It also lets you query severe weather activity via `get_severe_weather` and fail fast if conditions are unsafe.

Year-Over-Year Comparison Scripts

Writing a script to compare this year's rainfall versus last year’s is simple. Just run `get_historical_weather`, specifying the coordinates and comparing two different years of data. It provides all the necessary metrics—humidity, wind, precipitation—to make robust comparisons in your terminal output.

Common questions about Weatherbit MCP in Claude Code

You run `get_current_weather` or `get_current_weather_by_city`. The output gives you temperature, feels like, and wind speed/direction. You can pipe this directly into a script to generate an immediate status report.
Yes. Use `get_forecast_hourly` (by coordinates or city) to get temperature, precipitation probability, and wind conditions for every hour of the day. This is perfect for generating detailed shift reports.
The `get_historical_weather` tool gives you metrics over a 30-year span by coordinates, including temperature, precipitation, and wind. It's ideal for running long-term trend analysis in CI/CD.
You run `get_weather_alerts` to get real-time hazard information by coordinates. The output details the alert type, severity, and whether it's effective or expired.
The server handles public environmental metrics like AQI scores (PM2.5, O3), temperature readings, wind speed/direction, and precipitation probability derived from geographic coordinates.
