Audit and List Proxy IPs Team-Wide

Use `list_proxies` to pull the current list of all assigned proxy IPs, along with their ports, credentials, and health status. This critical data point is committed to your team's shared repository. Running `get_proxy_configuration` ensures every developer on the team uses the same understanding of Webshare’s rotation settings.

Manage Account Quotas for Teams

Team leads can run `get_account_profile` to verify current plan limits and bandwidth quotas. This prevents unexpected service interruptions during a large-scale team test. You also use `get_replacement_quota` to confirm that the entire engineering group still has replacement capacity available.

Control Webshare Access for Development

If a developer needs to test a new IP, they can run `authorize_new_ip`. Conversely, if an old machine is decommissioned, the team commits to running `revoke_ip_authorization` using its unique ID. The `get_bandwidth_stats` tool tracks usage so the team can account for consumption accurately.

Setup guide

Set up Webshare MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Webshare MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Webshare tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Webshare transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.

Common questions about Webshare MCP in VS Code Copilot

You configure it via `.vscode/mcp.json`. Once committed, every developer on the team automatically has access to tools like `list_proxies` and `get_account_profile` for centralized management.
Yes. The tool calls `get_bandwidth_stats`, which retrieves historical usage data. This allows the team to monitor resource consumption without manually checking a separate dashboard.
The team runs `list_authorized_ips`. The result is visible in the chat output, letting you confirm which IPs are whitelisted for proxy use without requiring passwords.
Yes. Because the configuration lives in the repository, everyone on the team uses the same toolset and processes when managing proxies or authorizing new IPs.
The server handles IP addresses (for authorization and listing), along with usage metrics including bandwidth statistics. All interactions are confined to the infrastructure layer.
