Create and modify content records for the team.

Use `create_cms_post` to generate new posts that are automatically managed by the team. You define the title, body, and initial status—it's all part of your shared workflow. You can update any existing post using `update_cms_post`. This is great for making bulk changes because you pass a JSON object with only the fields that need updating.

List site assets and metadata quickly.

The team needs to know what's available? Call `list_site_categories` or `list_site_tags` to get all defined taxonomies. This data feeds directly into your shared code base. For listing posts, use `list_site_posts`. The tool supports standard WP query parameters, making it easy for every developer on the team to filter results consistently.

Manage users and media library access.

You can pull a roster of all site members using `list_site_users`. This helps enforce role-based security when writing code. If you need background context, `get_post_details` retrieves everything about one specific post. Accessing images and documents is simple with `list_media_attachments`, giving your team the full index of media files available on WordPress.

Setup guide

Set up WordPress MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the WordPress MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the WordPress tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent WordPress transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
