List and inspect Workato automation recipes.

A core tool is `list_automation_recipes`, which gives your agent a full inventory of existing workflows. This allows the crew to assign specific tasks based on documented capabilities. The ability to see everything in one place keeps the autonomous operations running smoothly, without manual checks.

Audit all app connections with MCP Server.

Before any agent acts, it needs credentials. Use `list_app_connections` to show your crew exactly what applications are connected and ready for use. This prevents the agents from failing due to missing access. Your multi-agent system relies on knowing its boundaries; this tool defines them.

Get specific recipe run details.

Need to know why Agent B failed? The `get_recipe_details` tool lets you retrieve deep information for a single work flow. This detail can be fed back into the crew's memory, allowing another agent to correct the course. It turns simple failure reporting into actionable intelligence.

Setup guide

Set up Workato MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Workato tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Workato Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Workato data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Workato access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Workato transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)
