Code against Workato connections with Cursor

The `list_app_connections` tool lets the AI agent call API connection details when you're mid-write. Instead of using mock data, your code uses real context about configured applications. You can also run `get_api_collections`. This provides a live list of all exposed Workato API collections, letting you write accurate integration endpoints right in your file.

Debug workflows by listing job executions

Need to debug a flaky workflow? Use `list_recipe_jobs` to fetch recent execution jobs. The AI injects this live status data directly into the code block you're writing, letting you pinpoint failure points. If you need details on which workflows exist, `list_automation_recipes` provides that list for context.

Map out your entire Workato environment

To understand the scope of the project, call `list_workato_folders`. This shows how all organizational structures are set up in Workato. A quick check using `list_managed_connectors` gives you a complete inventory of every managed connector available within the tenant.

Setup guide

Set up Workato MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Workato MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Workato transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Workato tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Workato MCP in Cursor

You create or update your `.cursor/mcp.json` file and enable Agent mode in chat. The agent then calls the MCP tools, injecting live API responses directly into the working code you write.
Yep. You use `list_automation_recipes` to get a comprehensive list of all workflows. This data can then be used by the AI agent to generate functions that interact with those specific recipes.
The server operates on a project-scope basis when you set up `.cursor/mcp.json`. This keeps the Workato context tied specifically to the repository and codebase you're working on.
This server touches **API connections**, recipe names, job statuses, and folder structures. It gives your agent enough context to write code that interacts with live integration points.
The agents work together by having access to the same MCP server definition, allowing them to coordinate calls like `get_recipe_details` and write code based on the combined results.
