Autonomous Task Lifecycle Management

A crew can be assigned the role of 'Task Manager.' It first calls `list_tasks` to assess the workload. Then, it uses `update_task` to change statuses across multiple Worktile projects autonomously. Need to kick off work? The agent executes `create_task`, writing a new item and sharing that record with other specialized agents for follow-up.

Project Scope Discovery

The 'Scout' agent runs `list_projects` to survey the entire Worktile landscape, gathering all available agile work areas. It then uses `get_project` on a specific project ID, providing deep details for analysis. If the scope is team-based, the agent checks organizational structure using `get_team_info` and can list members via `list_members`.

Coordinated Messaging Operations

A 'Communicaion Specialist' agent first runs `list_channels` to find all relevant communication endpoints. It then uses that context to execute the action, calling `send_message` directly into Worktile. The system can also track task states by running `list_task_states` for a project, allowing the crew to report on bottlenecks automatically.

Setup guide

Set up Worktile MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Worktile tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Worktile Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Worktile data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Worktile access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Worktile transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about Worktile MCP in CrewAI

The 'Task Manager' agent uses `list_tasks` to retrieve all current work items in a specified project. This list is shared among the crew, allowing specialized agents to process them.
Yes. The agent can first fetch details using `get_project`, and then another worker can call `update_task` based on the gathered information. This ensures modifications are targeted.
The agent uses `get_team_info` to get the current details and structure of a team. It can then list individual members using `list_members` to build out the full roster.
It does. The agent uses `list_channels` to see what's available, and then it sends messages using `send_message`, all within a collaborative workflow context.
This server touches project details and task status. You access the full scope via `get_project` and can list the specific states using `list_task_states`.
