Fetch User Data from X (Twitter) via the MCP Server

The `lookup_user_by_username` tool lets you fetch user profiles directly from the command line. You pass an @username, and Claude Code returns structured output detailing follower count, bio text, and verification status. This is ideal for cron jobs.

Search Topics with X (Twitter) CLI Commands

`search_recent_tweets` executes a search query against public tweets from the last seven days. The output streams directly to your standard out, letting you pipe it into `grep`, `awk`, or other shell utilities for immediate processing.

Extract Tweet Metrics in CLI Scripts

Use `get_tweet_details` by providing a numeric ID. The tool outputs both the text and all engagement metrics associated with that tweet. This allows you to build shell scripts that analyze performance data without needing a GUI.

Common questions about X (Twitter) MCP in Claude Code

Execute the `search_recent_tweets` command, passing your query string. The results stream to standard output immediately. You can then redirect this output into a file for later analysis.
Use `lookup_user_by_username` and pipe its structured JSON output into another tool. This keeps your CI/CD pipeline clean and makes the data easily parsable by subsequent scripts.
It supports three core, headless functions: searching tweets, looking up users, and getting tweet details. These tools make it simple to automate social intelligence workflows via the terminal.
This server touches user profile data, numeric Tweet IDs, and raw text/engagement metrics. All of these are available for piping into your shell scripts using Claude Code.
You wrap the MCP calls—like `search_recent_tweets`—into a shell script or GitHub Action. This allows you to run continuous checks and pipe results directly into logging services.
