Code User Lookups with the MCP Server

The `lookup_user_by_username` tool retrieves user profile data. You can call this function within your code to fetch follower counts, bio information, and verification status for any given @username. Cline ensures the API response is immediately available as a typed object in your project.

Execute Tweet Searches with the MCP Server

`search_recent_tweets` lets you pull recent public tweets using keywords or hashtags. This data stream fits perfectly into a CI/CD pipeline, letting you test how your application handles real-time social media input. You just pass the query string to Cline.

Process Tweet Metrics in Code

To get specific metrics, use `get_tweet_details` with a numeric ID. It returns both the full tweet text and its engagement data points. This mechanism is perfect for writing unit tests that validate how your dashboard components consume external API calls.

Common questions about X (Twitter) MCP in Cline

You call `search_recent_tweets` and get a structured JSON output. Because Cline is an end-to-end agent, you can immediately pipe that result into a file or pass it to another function to process the data.
Yes, `lookup_user_by_username` handles this. You write the function call in your component code, and Cline executes it, giving you a predictable output object for building out your dashboards.
Absolutely. Using `get_tweet_details` allows you to simulate fetching specific tweet engagement metrics within your test suite, proving that your data imports work correctly before deployment.
This server touches user profile data, numeric Tweet IDs, and raw tweet text. You'll get all these inputs when building out your social intelligence pipelines in Cline.
You add the MCP Server to your project dependencies. Then, you use typed code calls—like calling `search_recent_tweets`—which forces you to handle all data types correctly and makes testing simple.
