Key Capabilities
Inject live imagery data into Cursor
The `quick_search` tool pulls real PSScene and Sentinel-2 metadata straight into your editor. Your agent uses these live responses to write ingestion scripts that actually work against the current API schema. The `list_item_types` tool shows you exactly what properties exist on the backend. You stop guessing at data structures and let Cursor format your Python code to match the exact payload.
Script asset downloads
The `get_item_assets` tool returns signed download URLs and file sizes for specific satellite passes. Your agent uses this live data to write and test your download workers right in the IDE. The `get_item_details` tool fetches the exact acquisition conditions for a scene. Cursor uses this metadata to build logic that automatically rejects captures with bad sun elevation angles.
Build automated MCP Server pipelines
The `create_subscription` tool configures Planet to push new captures to your cloud buckets. You map out the GeoJSON boundaries, and Cursor writes the webhook handlers based on the actual subscription confirmation payload. The `create_saved_search` tool sets up the query on Planet's backend if you prefer polling over webhooks. Your code then just calls the results endpoint on a cron job to fetch the latest matching item IDs.
