Key Capabilities

Get Real-Time Shipping Rates

Need to know what carriers charge for a specific package? You call `get_rates` and feed it the dimensions. It pulls current rates from multiple carriers, letting you compare costs before committing. This saves you from jumping out of your IDE just to check shipping costs on another website. Your script gets the data instantly.

Create Labels for Orders with Cline

When an order is ready to ship, use `create_label_for_order`. This tool handles everything: it generates the label file and links that shipment back to the original order in ShipStation. You don't have to touch a web browser or print anything manually. Your code just tells Cline to generate the labels.

List Orders by Tag using MCP Server

Got a bunch of orders that need special handling? You can use `list_orders_by_tag`. Just specify the tag, and the MCP Server pulls all relevant order IDs into your workspace. This lets you process batches of shipments or flag specific types of inventory for review before running other tools.

Common questions about ShipStation MCP in Cline

First, call `get_rates` with the package dimensions. Then, your script can read those rates and compare them against internal cost thresholds before proceeding.
Yeah, you can use `list_orders` to pull down the order data. You filter it by status or customer ID and then feed those IDs into your label generation workflow.
If a shipment gets canceled, you just use `void_label` with the tracking number. It removes the label from the system cleanly, which is crucial for accurate accounting.
Yep. You can filter lists using both tags (like 'Fragile') or specific date ranges when calling `list_orders` or `list_customers`.
The primary data type this server touches is the order ID. Always ensure your code handles API keys securely, as this tool manages sensitive shipment details.
