Key Capabilities
Get immediate table schemas with `describe_table`.
When you're mid-coding and need to reference a column, running `describe_table` is key. It immediately gives you the data types and field names for any target table in Snowflake. Instead of stopping your flow to look up documentation, you call this tool, and Cursor injects that live metadata directly into the code block you're writing.
Query environment details with `get_session_context`.
Need confirmation about where your code is running? Use `get_session_context`. It returns the current user, warehouse, and database—all in one go. This prevents you from making assumptions when writing multi-stage data pipelines. This live context check lets you write more reliable integration tests because you know exactly what credentials or environment variables your code will use against Snowflake.
Execute and handle long-running SQL with `execute_sql`.
Running massive joins in Snowflake can take forever. Use `execute_sql` to get the first partition of results, or better yet, grab a handle for the job. This allows your code to proceed immediately without blocking. Later, you can check that job's progress using `get_statement_status`, keeping your entire coding session flowing while the heavy lifting happens on Snowflake’s side.
