Resolve IT alerts through agent consensus

Complex network failures rarely have obvious solutions without MCP access. You can assign one agent to monitor infrastructure while another acts as a security specialist. The monitoring agent spots an issue via `list_alerts` and suggests a reboot. The security agent pushes back, pulls device details using `get_agent`, and insists on patching a vulnerability first.

Audit support workflows with this MCP Server

Customer requests often get misclassified by solo bots. A multi-agent setup forces a review process before anything gets committed to your database. A triage bot drafts a response after reading the issue via `get_ticket`. A manager bot reviews the draft, cross-references the SLA using `get_customer`, and only then approves the `create_ticket` action.

Validate infrastructure state automatically

Routine maintenance requires checking multiple systems at once. One agent can pull the entire device roster using `list_agents` to start the process. Other agents divide the list and verify the status of individual endpoints. If something looks wrong, they trigger `get_account_check` to ensure the API connection is actually stable before sounding the alarm.

Setup guide

Set up Atera MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Atera tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Atera_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Atera data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Atera MCP in AutoGen

Install the autogen-ext[mcp] dependency. Feed your Vinkius URL into StreamableHttpServerParams and pass the resulting tools to your assistant agent.
Yes, they share the tool definitions. You can have a dispatcher reading `list_tickets` while a resolver agent handles the specific issue.
No, the built-in adapter handles all the formatting. The agents inherently understand what parameters the endpoints require.
The MCP Server will return an error, which the framework feeds back into the conversation. The agent realizes the mistake and usually calls `list_tickets` to find the correct identifier.
Every API call routes through a managed, ephemeral container. Your managed hardware IDs and client organization records stay private because the environment destroys itself after use.
