Analyze massive bug backlogs in Google ADK

This BugHerd MCP Server exposes your entire feedback backlog to Gemini's long-context window. Your agent calls `list_tasks` and `list_feedback` to load thousands of bug reports into memory at once, allowing it to spot patterns that shorter-context models miss. Because the Google ADK handles token management for enterprise-scale inputs, your agent can analyze months of visual feedback in a single pass. It can then group duplicate issues and suggest bulk updates without hitting context limits.

Sync BugHerd metadata using the MCP Server

This MCP Server lets your Google ADK agents pull live data using `get_project` and `get_organization_info` to sync with your external data warehouses. Your agent can cross-reference active bug counts with your BigQuery analytics tables to prioritize high-impact issues. The ADK makes it simple to write agents that query BigQuery, process the results, and then use `update_task` to escalate bugs affecting your most active users.

Restrict BugHerd tool access within Google ADK

This BugHerd MCP Server allows you to limit which tools your Gemini agents can access. Using the ADK's `tool_names` filter, you can expose only `list_tasks` and `get_task` for read-only agents, while blocking destructive actions. This granular control keeps your production data safe. Your reporting agents can read the state of your projects without any risk of them accidentally running `update_task` on critical items.

Setup guide

Set up BugHerd MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with BugHerd tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="BugHerd_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to BugHerd tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about BugHerd MCP in Google ADK

Use the McpToolset class with your server's HTTP URL. Pass that toolset directly to your LlmAgent tools array to expose the BugHerd tools to Gemini.
Yes, the Google ADK lets you pass a list of allowed tool names to the toolset. You can restrict the agent to just list_tasks if you want to prevent edits.
Gemini's large context window easily processes large payloads from list_feedback. The ADK parses the JSON response from the server and passes it directly to the model.
Yes, the ADK supports both HTTP and Stdio transports. You can configure the StreamableHttpServerParameters to connect to your hosted Vinkius MCP Server.
Your task descriptions and user lists are transmitted directly between the Google ADK runtime and the BugHerd API. The Vinkius endpoint processes these requests inside isolated, short-lived sandboxes that store absolutely no data.
