Debate routes using AutoGen agents

Assign one agent to use `directions` while another verifies the cost. They negotiate the best path based on real-time traffic data returned by the server. This conflict resolution ensures your system picks the most efficient route. You get a consensus-driven output that considers multiple constraints simultaneously.

Verify locations with AutoGen and Google Maps

Use `geocode` to feed coordinate data to your agents. One agent confirms the address accuracy, while another uses `place_details` to confirm business hours. This multi-agent verification prevents errors before they reach your final output. It creates a robust system where agents challenge each other's assumptions about a location.

Search and reconcile with the Google Maps MCP Server

Deploy `place_search` to gather candidates for your agents to discuss. They compare the results of different searches to arrive at a single, validated location. Your system performs complex lookups where the answer isn't obvious. The agents negotiate until they agree on the correct place ID for the task at hand.

Setup guide

Set up Google Maps MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Google Maps tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Google Maps_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Google Maps data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Google Maps MCP in AutoGen

You pass the `place_search` tool to your `AssistantAgent`. The agents will then debate the search parameters and execute the tool to find the best results.
They can. By using the `directions` tool, your agents can compare different routing options and debate which one meets your specific delivery criteria.
Use the `McpToolAdapter` to convert the server tools into a format your agents understand. Once registered, they will use them as part of their standard deliberation process.
Yes. It handles concurrent requests efficiently, allowing multiple agents to query location data without blocking the conversation flow.
The server operates in a zero-trust sandbox. Your location queries are encrypted in transit, and the server never stores your sensitive API credentials between individual agent sessions.
