Live ticketing interfaces via the Vercel AI SDK

This HaloPSA MCP Server exposes `list_tickets` and `get_ticket` to let your Vercel AI SDK client fetch live service desk data on the fly. Instead of making users wait for a full page reload, the client streams the raw ticket payloads directly into your UI components as they arrive. You build interface elements that render ticket details immediately. When a user asks to see their open items, the agent invokes `list_tickets` and populates the Next.js page line by line without lag.

Direct ticket actions with Vercel AI SDK tools

The `perform_ticket_action` tool gives your application the ability to update statuses and add notes instantly. Your Vercel AI SDK agent executes these updates in the background, matching user chat inputs directly to HaloPSA operations. Users write a quick message to close a task. The SDK intercepts this, runs `perform_ticket_action` through the MCP Server, and updates the local UI state before the user even finishes typing.

Real-time client lookups in your React UI

Our MCP Server provides `list_clients` and `list_users` to match incoming frontend requests with actual HaloPSA records. To verify customer identities during live chat, your Vercel AI SDK setup calls these tools. This prevents your support agents from manual searching. By querying these directory tools, the SDK matches the user profile and displays their active service contracts on the screen instantly.

Setup guide

Set up HaloPSA MCP in Vercel AI SDK

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+ and a TypeScript project
  • ai + @modelcontextprotocol/sdk packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run npm install ai @modelcontextprotocol/sdk plus your preferred model provider (e.g. @ai-sdk/openai).

  2. 2

    Create the Streamable HTTP transport

    Use StreamableHTTPClientTransport with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Discover and use tools

    Call mcpClient.tools() to auto-discover all HaloPSA tools. Pass them directly to generateText() or streamText() — no manual schema definitions needed.

  4. 4

    Works with any model provider

    Swap openai("gpt-4o") for any AI SDK provider — Anthropic, Google, Mistral. The MCP tools work identically across all supported models.

index.ts
import { experimental_createMCPClient as createMCPClient } from "ai";
import { StreamableHTTPClientTransport } from "@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/streamableHttp";
import { generateText } from "ai";
import { openai } from "@ai-sdk/openai";

const transport = new StreamableHTTPClientTransport(
  new URL("https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp")
);

const mcpClient = await createMCPClient({ transport });
const tools = await mcpClient.tools();

const { text } = await generateText({
  model: openai("gpt-4o"),
  tools,
  prompt: "List recent HaloPSA transactions",
});

console.log(text);
await mcpClient.close();

Common questions about HaloPSA MCP in Vercel AI SDK

Use the `list_tickets` tool inside your `streamText` function. The Vercel AI SDK handles the stream, rendering ticket rows in your React UI as the MCP Server returns them.
Yes. You pass the `perform_ticket_action` tool to your Vercel AI SDK agent. When a user clicks a button, the SDK triggers the action and updates the UI state in real time.
Yes, your Vercel AI SDK agent uses `list_contracts` to retrieve customer agreement details during active chat sessions. This lets you display SLA data directly in your Next.js application.
You configure the client with your Vinkius endpoint token. Pass this token in the `createMCPClient` transport configuration to authorize all HaloPSA requests.
The server processes `list_invoices` and `list_contracts` payloads inside an isolated V8 sandbox. No database stores your financial records or client details, and all credentials remain encrypted within the Vinkius vault.
