How to Use the HetrixTools MCP in CrewAI
Deploy autonomous agent crews to monitor server uptime and manage HetrixTools IP blacklists.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect HetrixTools MCP to CrewAI
Create your Vinkius account to connect HetrixTools to CrewAI and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Autonomous infrastructure auditing
The `list_uptime_monitors` tool gives your CrewAI monitoring agent full visibility into your active endpoints. The agent pulls the entire list of tracked servers and compares it against your current AWS inventory. It holds this state in shared memory for the rest of the crew to access. If the analysis agent finds dead servers that no longer exist in your cloud account, it flags them. The action agent then steps in and calls `delete_uptime_monitor` to clean up the HetrixTools dashboard automatically. No human sysadmin has to manually prune the list.
CrewAI MCP Server reputation defense
Your security agent uses `list_blacklist_monitors` to pull down every IP and domain you currently watch. It reviews the list to ensure all production mail servers are actively tracked. If anything is missing, it alerts the team. When an active threat is detected, a specialized remediation agent runs `check_ip_blacklist` on the affected IPv4 address. Because CrewAI supports hierarchical execution, the manager agent evaluates the blacklist results and decides whether to reroute traffic or contact the ISP.
Dynamic monitor provisioning
Provisioning new infrastructure triggers your CrewAI deployment agent to execute `add_uptime_monitor`. You pass the target IP, monitor type, and contact ID. The agent formats the JSON payload and registers the new server with HetrixTools before the server even finishes booting. To avoid hitting API caps during massive deployments, the manager agent calls `get_account_usage` first. It checks your current resource limits. If you have enough room on your tier, it approves the mass addition of new monitors.
Set up HetrixTools MCP in CrewAI
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewaipackage (pip install crewai) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install CrewAI
Run
pip install crewaito install the framework. MCP support is built-in via themcpsparameter. - 2
Add the MCP URL to your agent
Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the
mcpslist. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically. - 3
Kick off your crew
Create a
Crewwith your agent and tasks. Callcrew.kickoff()— the agent will automatically invoke HetrixTools tools as needed.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
agent = Agent(
role="HetrixTools Analyst",
goal="Access and analyze HetrixTools data via MCP.",
backstory="Expert analyst with direct HetrixTools access.",
mcps=[
"https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
],
)
task = Task(
description="List recent HetrixTools transactions",
agent=agent,
expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)
crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result) Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewai+crewai-toolspackages - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install dependencies
Run
pip install crewai crewai-tools. TheMCPServerAdapterhandles lifecycle management and tool conversion. - 2
Connect with MCPServerAdapter
Use
MCPServerAdapteras a context manager withSseServerParameterspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. The adapter automatically manages connection lifecycle. - 3
Assign tools and run
Pass the returned
mcp_toolsto your agent'stoolsparameter. The adapter converts MCP tools to nativeBaseToolobjects compatible with all CrewAI agents.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
from crewai_tools import MCPServerAdapter
from mcp import SseServerParameters
