How to Use the IBM Quantum MCP in Cursor
Bring IBM Quantum into your Cursor workflow. Execute circuits and inject real hardware results directly into your codebase.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect IBM Quantum MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect IBM Quantum to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Explore IBM Quantum backends in Cursor
Query your available providers and hardware systems using `list_providers` and `list_backends` during your coding session. Having this context inside Cursor means the AI knows exactly which topology supports your specific algorithm before you write a single line of code.
Direct circuit submission from Cursor
Call `submit_job` to push your code-defined circuits to the real hardware. You get the job ID back instantly to track your progress. Because this is an MCP server, Cursor treats these responses as live data. The AI can adapt your code based on the hardware availability it sees.
Analyze quantum results in your editor
Use `get_job_result` to bring the output back into your current file. You can pipe this data directly into your analysis scripts. If a job hangs, `get_job_details` gives you the state you need to decide whether to wait or kill the process with `cancel_job`.
