Discover IBM Quantum processors via Google ADK

`list_backends` provides your Google ADK agent with a direct list of active IBM QPUs and simulators via this MCP interface. This prevents execution failures by matching the exact physical layout of the target IBM machine with Gemini's long-context reasoning.

Submit quantum circuits using Gemini reasoning

`submit_job` sends your circuit payloads directly to IBM Quantum backends through this MCP Server. If Gemini detects that an IBM job is queued behind hundreds of other tasks, it uses `cancel_job` to pull the execution.

Analyze quantum execution results inside Google ADK

`get_job_result` retrieves the final IBM execution data, including shot counts and state measurements, directly into your Google ADK runtime. By calling `list_jobs` and `list_providers`, your Gemini agent tracks historical runs across different IBM allocation hubs.

Setup guide

Set up IBM Quantum MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with IBM Quantum tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="IBM Quantum_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to IBM Quantum tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about IBM Quantum MCP in Google ADK

Install google-adk and initialize McpToolset with your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass this toolset into your LlmAgent constructor.
Yes. The agent uses list_jobs to monitor your active queue and calls get_job_details to check status.
When a job fails, get_job_details returns the specific error code from the Qiskit runtime. The Google ADK agent parses this error, adjusts the circuit parameters, and calls submit_job again.
Yes, you can use the tool_names filter in the McpToolset configuration to restrict access. For instance, you can expose only get_job_result and list_jobs if you want a read-only monitoring agent.
All circuit configurations and IBM Quantum credentials run inside ephemeral, zero-trust V8 isolates managed by Vinkius. Your Google ADK agent never sees your raw API keys; it interacts strictly with the sandboxed MCP Server using a single secure authorization token.
