Connect Internet Archive MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Internet Archive to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Write code using real archive metadata
Stop guessing the structure of historical data schemas while writing your application inside Cursor. When you run Cursor in Agent mode, it calls `get_item_metadata` to pull actual JSON payloads from the archive, allowing the editor to write precise parsing code based on real responses instead of placeholder stubs. The agent can immediately map out fields like creators, dates, and collections using the `search_by_creator` tool. You get working, tested code that interacts with the archive's actual database structure on your first try.
Build media pipelines with this MCP Server
If you are building an application that processes classic audio or video, Cursor can use `search_by_mediatype` to find sample files. It retrieves real-world URLs from the archive to test your media rendering pipelines directly from your editor's terminal. Cursor can also call `get_item_files` to verify file formats and sizes before your code attempts to download them. This prevents runtime errors in your scripts by letting your editor inspect the file manifests beforehand.
Test link-rot protection in Cursor
When writing scrapers or link-checking utilities, Cursor uses `wayback_availability` to fetch actual snapshots from the Wayback Machine. This lets you debug your fallback logic using live API data instead of mocked network responses. You can also test how your app handles high-traffic archives by using `get_views_stats` to pull real view metrics into your environment. Using this MCP Server makes building digital preservation tools a lot faster.
