Script Terminal-Based Security Checks

The `list_kolide_checks` tool outputs the complete list of security rules configured for your fleet. Claude Code runs this query directly from your CLI, allowing you to pipe the results into local shell scripts or text filters. This is perfect for DevOps engineers who want to check policy status without leaving the terminal. You get raw, actionable data that fits perfectly into your existing command-line workflows.

Map Fleet Issues to Team Members

The `list_kolide_people` tool retrieves all users managed under your security policies. Claude Code correlates this list with active device alerts to identify which teams are lagging behind on compliance. You can ask your agent to find all developers with outstanding security alerts in a single terminal command. It matches the users to their hardware, saving you from manual spreadsheet work.

Debug Endpoint Compliance via MCP Server

The `get_check_details` tool provides the underlying logic and SQL queries used to evaluate device health. Claude Code uses this tool to help you debug why a specific machine is failing a security check. It explains the exact criteria the agent is looking for on the target operating system. This lets you quickly modify your security policies without guessing what triggered the alert.

Common questions about Kolide MCP in Claude Code

Run the `claude mcp add` command in your terminal with your Vinkius HTTP transport URL. Claude Code will immediately register the MCP tools and make them available in your CLI sessions.
Yes, you can run Claude Code in non-interactive environments to audit device compliance. It uses `list_kolide_issues` to block deployments if critical vulnerabilities are detected on team machines.
No, Claude Code processes all tool outputs in real-time within your active terminal session. This MCP client does not write your fleet data to any local database or caching layer.
The agent plans its execution path and calls tools sequentially to gather context. It can list all devices first, then automatically run details queries on the ones marked non-compliant.
Yes, all employee names and email addresses retrieved from the API are protected by end-to-end transport encryption. Vinkius executes the code inside a secure, ephemeral sandbox, ensuring personal data never leaks.
