Team-Wide Scraping Workflows in VS Code Copilot

The `list_tasks` and `list_task_groups` tools let your team find shared crawlers directly from the VS Code Copilot chat panel. Commit your configuration to git so everyone on the team can use the same scraping tools. This MCP Server allows your team to trigger cloud extractions directly from the editor.

Automated Data Ingestion and Status Polling

The `start_task` tool initiates cloud extractions while VS Code Copilot monitors the progress. The agent runs `get_task_status` until the cloud run is complete. Once finished, the agent runs `get_task_data` to fetch the records and immediately executes `mark_data_exported` to keep the queue organized.

Dynamic Parameter Injection in VS Code

The `update_task_params` tool lets you modify crawler targets without modifying your local code. Inject new search parameters or target URLs into your active cloud tasks. If a run fails or needs a reset, use `stop_task` and `clear_task_data` to clean up the workspace.

Setup guide

Set up Octoparse MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Octoparse MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Octoparse tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Octoparse transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
