Automating complex trip planning with the MCP Server.

Need a multi-step travel itinerary? Start by calling `plan_trip`. It combines bus, train, subway, tram, and even cycling options into one comprehensive set of routes. The result gives you multiple full trip options—including transfer counts, total duration, and step-by-step instructions. Cascade figures out the best sequence for you automatically.

Real-time transit tracking via Windsurf MCP Server.

Check where everything is going with `get_vehicle_positions`. This tool provides real-time locations for all active transit vehicles on a map. You can even narrow the focus by specifying a route ID. Before you head out, use `get_arrivals` and `get_departures` to see if your next ride is delayed or if it's running right on schedule.

Locating and verifying transit stops.

Don't know the stop ID? Use `search_stops` first. You just input a name, like 'Times Square', and it returns matching IDs, coordinates, and relevant routes. Once you have an ID, use `get_stop_details`. This gives you all the facility info for that specific spot—great for checking if there's shelter or seating before your journey.

Setup guide

Set up TripGo MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the TripGo MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my TripGo payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the TripGo tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about TripGo MCP in Windsurf

Run `get_regions` first. This lists all the transit regions supported by TripGo, confirming if your city is covered before you start planning any trip using Windsurf.
You use `get_route_info` and supply the route ID. This tells you exactly what that transit line covers, which is key when planning complex journeys with your AI client.
Yeah, it can. The `get_vehicle_positions` tool feeds you live data on where every vehicle is positioned right now. It's perfect for tracking buses or trains as they move across the city.
Absolutely. The `plan_trip` function combines public transport (bus, train, subway), walking, and cycling into one trip plan. You specify your preferences when you run it.
The server touches specific facility details associated with transit stops, including the IDs, names, coordinates, and available amenities provided by `get_stop_details`.
