How to Use the Tyk MCP in Cursor
Get live API context into code using Cursor and the MCP Server for Tyk.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Tyk MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Tyk to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Managing Credentials with Cursor
Need to generate a new access key? Call `create_key` to create an API key session object. The live response from this tool lets your code use real credentials, not just stubs. If you need to revoke old keys, running `delete_key` cleans up the credential lifecycle perfectly.
Policy Enforcement via MCP Server
Use `create_policy` when your code needs a new security rule defined in Tyk. The agent calls this tool and injects the resulting policy data directly into the function you're writing. Similarly, if a rule changes, calling `update_policy` gives your codebase the latest structure.
API Definition Discovery for Cursor
Before coding, check what APIs are available using `list_apis`. The MCP Server pulls this list so you know exactly which endpoints to reference in your code. If a definition needs modification—say, adjusting the scope—you can use `create_api_definition` and immediately incorporate that structure.
