Build Messaging APIs into Code

The `send_template_message` tool lets you write a function that sends pre-approved WhatsApp messages to a target number. You can wrap this in a script, making it part of your build process rather than just running it manually. It's also great for handling live replies; using `send_session_message` means you can write components that respond directly to free text input from the user.

Audit and Manage WhatsApp Data Sets

Use the `list_whatsapp_templates` tool inside your script. This lets Cline check if a specific template name exists before trying to send it, which saves you from runtime errors when deploying code. You can also run `list_whatsapp_contacts` to pull all contact records into a data structure, letting your program process the entire list at once.

Fetch and Analyze Contact Information

When you need user context, the `get_whatsapp_contact_details` tool pulls profile information for any given phone number. You can then use that data in your code—maybe to populate a dashboard component with contact names. For historical review, running `get_whatsapp_chat_history` gives you every recent message exchanged, letting you write scripts that analyze conversation flow or detect key phrases.

Common questions about Wati MCP in Cline

You treat the MCP Server like any other API endpoint in your code. You call the functions—like `send_template_message`—directly from your component or script, letting Cline execute the network request.
Just invoke the `list_whatsapp_contacts` tool. The output is a structured list of every contact in your Wati CRM, ready for you to iterate over within your code.
Yes. You can write scripts that first use `list_broadcast_campaigns` to check status, then pull contact lists, and finally execute messages using the appropriate sending tool.
This server deals with critical communication records: chat history, user profile details (contact details), and phone numbers that define who you're messaging.
You'll call either `send_template_message` if it needs to be structured, or `send_session_message` for free-text replies. The tool handles the API connection.
