…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Wistia MCP to OpenAI Agents SDK
Create your Vinkius account to connect Wistia to OpenAI Agents SDK and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Project Setup and Management
You can start by running `create_new_project` to organize media. This tool makes sure you have a clean spot for new video assets, keeping your Wistia workflow structured. You'll also manage the lifecycle with `delete_wistia_project`. Just remember that deleting a project loses all contained videos, so double-check before hitting delete.
Fetching Media Details
`get_media_details` pulls comprehensive metadata for any specific Wistia media asset. This tells you everything about the file—the original source, dimensions, and other attributes. Need a list of everything? `list_wistia_medias` gives you every video or audio file currently in your account, so you don't have to manually check folders.
Uploading Content
Need to get a video into Wistia? Use `upload_video_via_url`. You just provide the source URL, pick a target project ID, and give it a name. The server handles downloading and hosting the content for you. If you need to update existing files, remember that `update_media_metadata` lets you change attributes like the description or title using the asset's hashed ID.
Set up Wistia MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
openai-agentspackage (pip install openai-agents) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install the SDK
Run
pip install openai-agentsto install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed. - 2
Connect via SSE transport
Use
MCPServerSsewith your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Wistia tools at runtime. - 3
Create your Agent
Pass the MCP to
Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Wistia tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically. - 4
Run the agent
Call
Runner.run(agent, prompt)to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Wistia tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse
async def main():
async with MCPServerSse(
url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
) as server:
agent = Agent(
name="Wistia Agent",
instructions="You have access to Wistia tools.",
mcp_servers=[server],
)
result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
print(result.final_output)
asyncio.run(main()) Independent Platform Disclaimer: Vinkius is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, verified by, or otherwise authorized by Wistia.
