Execute complex actions using the LangChain agent.

The `create_new_post` tool writes a draft post, but your chain needs more context. You can use `get_post_details` to pull existing data—like an author’s bio or related categories—and inject that information into the new content's body. This flow lets you build complex reasoning pipelines. The agent decides it needs a list of all available categories via `list_blog_categories`, then uses those IDs as required parameters when calling another tool, making sure your workflow is always accurate.

Manage site structure with the LangChain MCP Server.

Need to overhaul a page? You can start by running `list_static_pages` to see everything currently live. Once you know which page ID needs updating, your agent passes that ID directly to a subsequent tool call (if available) or uses it as context for logging the change. This chaining ability means you don't just execute single tasks; you build full operational sequences. You can list all users via `list_site_users` and then immediately use those usernames in another step, all within one agent run.

Automate content management with the LangChain agent.

If you want to purge old drafts, your chain can first call `list_blog_posts` to get a list of IDs. Then, it uses those specific post IDs and passes them into `delete_post`, ensuring only the intended posts are removed. This precise sequence is key. You're not just running random commands; you're building automated pipelines where the output—like a batch of 10 post IDs—becomes the definitive input for the next tool call.

Setup guide

Set up WordPress MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes WordPress tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "wordpress-alternative-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent WordPress transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about WordPress MCP in LangChain

You set up a multi-step chain where one action's output feeds directly into the next. For example, first list all categories using `list_blog_categories`, then pass those IDs when creating a new post via `create_new_post`.
Yep. You run the agent and it calls `list_site_users`. The resulting list of user data—usernames, emails, roles—is then available in memory for subsequent steps in your chain.
You first call `list_blog_posts` to retrieve a list of post IDs. Your agent can then take that batch of IDs and run the `delete_post` tool on them sequentially, making sure you hit all the targets.
Yes. You use the `create_new_post` tool to build new content, or if it's a static informational piece, you can manage that via tools like those found in the MCP Server listing.
The server handles core WordPress data types: post content/IDs, category lists, static page structures, and user credentials.
