Manage Content Lifecycle in Windsurf

The `create_new_post` tool lets you draft a new blog article instantly. You give it the goal, and Cascade figures out the steps to get that post live on WordPress. Need to clean up old content? Use `delete_post` when you're done with an entry. It removes the post entirely from your site.

Retrieve Specific Site Data using MCP Server

To check on a single article, just run `get_post_details`. This pulls all the metadata and content for a specific WordPress post ID. It’s faster than digging through the dashboard. You can also see what categories are available across the whole site by calling `list_blog_categories`.

Audit Site Structure with Windsurf

Does your WordPress site have enough pages? The `list_static_pages` tool pulls a clean list of all permanent, non-blog pages. You'll see everything from the About Us page to contact forms. If you need user data—like who has admin access—the `list_site_users` function gives you that list too.

Setup guide

Set up WordPress MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the WordPress MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my WordPress payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the WordPress tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about WordPress MCP in Windsurf

Windsurf's Cascade agent handles the whole sequence. You tell it, 'Update post X,' and it figures out if it needs to run `get_post_details` first, then maybe `create_new_post` with revised text. It doesn't stop until the job is done.
Absolutely. The `list_blog_posts` tool pulls a clean, paginated list of every single post published on your site. This is perfect for generating an index page or auditing content volume.
When you run `delete_post`, it removes the specific blog content from the database. It only deletes the post itself; it doesn't affect users or site settings.
Yes, it handles both. Use `list_static_pages` for all non-blog content, and the `list_site_users` tool pulls a list of every registered site user.
This server touches user account details, specifically listing system users via the `list_site_users` tool. This is strictly metadata about who exists on the site.
