Key Capabilities

Feed massive crisis logs directly into Gemini

Your Google ADK agent calls `get_reports` to pull months of humanitarian data and dumps it straight into Gemini's long-context window. Since the model handles a million tokens easily, you don't have to waste time chunking files or writing complex map-reduce code. The agent filters these large datasets using `get_formats` to focus solely on maps or situation reports. This lets you build deep historical timelines of active emergencies directly inside Vertex AI.

Query this MCP Server alongside BigQuery tables

The Google ADK framework lets you cross-reference active field data from `get_disasters` on this MCP server with your internal logistics tables in BigQuery. Your agent queries the live disaster status and maps it to your physical inventory lists in real time. It then uses `get_countries` to verify geographic coordinates before updating your enterprise database. This keeps your supply chain data accurate during fast-moving global events.

Map global aid organization networks

Your agent invokes `get_organizations` to map which NGOs are active in specific crisis zones. Google ADK routes this structured JSON payload directly into your Vertex AI pipelines for relationship mapping. By using `get_sources`, the agent verifies the credibility of each incoming report. You get a clean, mapped network of trusted humanitarian actors without manual data entry.

Setup guide

Set up ReliefWeb MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with ReliefWeb tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="ReliefWeb_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to ReliefWeb tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about ReliefWeb MCP in Google ADK

Google ADK processes the JSON output from `get_reports` and loads it directly into Gemini's context window. The framework handles the data stream efficiently, ensuring no truncation occurs during large transfers.
Yes, you can use the tool_names filter in the McpToolset configuration. This lets you expose only specific tools like `get_disasters` while hiding job or organization tools.
Your Google ADK agent can call `get_countries` to fetch ISO codes, then write that data directly to BigQuery. This allows you to join real-time humanitarian updates with your own internal tracking tables.
The agent queries `get_themes` to obtain the correct category ID for topics like food security. It then passes that ID to `get_reports` to return targeted humanitarian updates.
Yes, all data retrieved via `get_disasters` and `get_organizations` is processed through Vinkius's zero-trust sandbox. The Google ADK client communicates over a single secure endpoint, keeping your cloud infrastructure isolated.
